What an amazing job it would be to photograph the president day in and day out. You get to go everywhere see everything even hear everything. This job also has to be tough, as you have to be everywhere the president is and capture the good with the bad.

My good friend Taylor has always had the eye for capturing great images with her film camera. I would always see the pictures she was capturing and know she just was a natural. Up until last week when I gave her the D3000 and 35 1.8 she had never used a DSLR before.

This past Friday I was at the Weezer show shooting form the pit. I have to say there were a few good people in the pit to talk to this show.

I know this is a little off track but my brother was at the show and talked his way into the pit with a shot of Jack for me.

Now back to the photo, shooting form the pit is not where I always like to be. But I did not have an all access pass or stage access this time around. So it was like the old days where you are limited to 3 songs and have to fight for position with all the other photographers.

My recommendation for when you are shooting three songs in the pit is to start with some wide angles and be sure to move through to doing some tighter shots of the artists. This photo that you see below was captured because I set myself in one location in the pit while Rivers the lead singer was walking around. It just felt like he was going to do something and it turns out he decide to jump. I was ready with my settings, lens, focus and position and I captured it!!!!

I can not stress enough how important it is to pick a spot in the pit and not move around terribly to much. Feel the song, know the artists as much as you can and prepare to feel the moment as it happens.

This week I wanted to add a guest edit into the mix. The photo looks like it is from Europe and I would be really interested to know more about where it was taken.

I decided to go with a black and white and a color but I am not sure which I feel is the best.

I have always had a thing for printing big prints. Back in college when everyone else was printing 8x10 or 11x14 for their portfolio's I was hand printing 16x20 color full frame prints. There is just something about large prints that I really love.

This weeks file was selected because it was a solid portrait that could pose some interesting editing challenges.

There is an amazing portrait that could be edited in many different ways. I chose to try and darken the background slightly and Adam decided to zap out the background all together using a very interesting feather technique. Would you leave this in color or go black and white? Would you let the background stay or would you totally zap it out?

While in Park City Utah I got the rare chance to just walk around by myself in an almost empty town. The air was fresh and brisk and the streets were all mine. I decided now was the best time to run the Sigma 17-50 2.8 threw its passes on the Nikon D7000. I will get to final reviews of both pieces of gear very soon.

This question was left in my facebook comments in regards to me shooting in Utah with the Nikon D7000 and Sigma 17-50. "Is it ever disappointing trying non professional gear?"

Now I thought that was a great question because so many people say its all about the gear the gear. I know I push using better glass repeatedly to help in getting better images but that doesn't guarantee you great images. It comes down to the camera you have at the time you are capturing moments.

My answer to the question is honestly no, that was the set up I had at that moment and those images I capture are going to be unique to that shoot. I wouldn't have been able to capture the same thing that I captured at the moment with anything else. I immerse myself in the gear that I am using regardless of what it is.

It all comes down to capturing moments and the photographer behind the camera.

Lil brought up a memory of how her mother used to grow plants and sell them for good money during the 1920's.

For this weeks Rapid Fire Critique I had a call with Rylan from Canada. He is an amateur photographer who is doing an amazing job seeing and capturing the image. I have no doubt in my mind and tell him this at the end of the video that he could start turning photography into his profession. Just look at his compositions and the moments he is capturing.
